Assorted thoughts on missions, culture, and working with God to rebuild the spiritual Zion.
"We, your servants, love each stone in the city, and we are sad to see them lying in the dirt."
Psalm 102.14 (Contemporary English Version)
This is one of those times that Dr. Land is brilliant. His interview on the Colbert Report regarding his new book was remarkable as well. Colbert tried to bait him into the culture warrior mode, and Land would have none of it. Dr. Land was the consumate gentleman and blew me away with his transparency and thoughtful analysis of the spiritual dialogue in our country.
However, I sometimes have to turn his radio program off when he either gets too close to the line, or crosses the line, of endorsing a specific politician. And while I understand his mandate to give a SBC perspective on issues of the day, I don't think he has to emphatically comment on all the issues that don't deal clearly with righteousness.
Now that I've copped out with both pros and cons of Dr. Land, let me restate that this piece was excellent.
Uh... does he realize he's preaching about/to himself?
ReplyDeleteLu,
ReplyDeleteI don't really know enough to make a call on that one way or another. However, I do like what he has to say in this article.
